Job Summary
The Dietary Aide provides support in meal preparation, food serving, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the dining and kitchen areas. They assist in preparing meals according to dietary guidelines, serving food to patients or residents, and ensuring that food safety and sanitation standards are met.
Duties/Responsibilities Meal Preparation- Assist in preparing food trays and meals according to specific dietary restrictions or preferences (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, gluten-free).
- Portion meals as directed by the menu and dietary guidelines.
- Assist with cleaning, chopping, and preparing ingredients for meal preparation.
- Serve food to patients, residents, or clients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ensure that food temperatures are appropriate and meals are served promptly.
- Deliver food trays to patient rooms or designated dining areas.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, dining area, and food storage areas.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to established cleaning schedules.
- Ensure that all food storage practices meet safety standards to prevent cross-contamination.
- Assist in stocking and organizing food supplies and equipment.
- Report shortages of food or supplies to the supervisor.
- Interact with patients, residents, and clients to ensure their satisfaction with meals and address any concerns regarding food preferences or allergies.
- Follow all food safety regulations, including proper handwashing, safe food handling, and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety guidelines.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
ExperiencePrevious experience in food service, healthcare, or similar environment preferred but not required.
Skills- Good communication skills to interact with patients, residents, and coworkers.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, busy environment.
- Will be required to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- May be exposed to various kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and food allergens.
- Work will involve both indoor and, occasionally, outdoor environments.
