About the PositionThis position will focus on sales, marketing, training, and support of specific Company products within a defined territory. The TSM will also assist with or directly execute sales activity of these products between the company and its customers. The TSM is accountable for understanding customer requirements and satisfying those requirements over the short/long term in a professional manner that assures the successful execution of the territory sales plan.
KeyActivities & Responsibilities
- Actively pursue new business accountants in target markets.
- Develop attainable annual goals through all market channels.
- Provide technical support to customers on the use of products purchased from Astec.
- Prepare formal and informal quotations to customers for selected products.
- Represent the organization at trade shows, events, and demonstrations.
- Main responsibility is to sell Forestry and Recycling product in defined territories that have been targeted as high-volume opportunities or require additional sales development to increase market share and acceptance.
- Define target market for this Regional Sales Manager role primarily towards aggregate, mining, recycling, construction, energy, industrial and other material processing markets.
- Help set goals and attain them on an annual basis through all market channels as required.
- Negotiate with end-users in all areas of Company sales business as necessary.
- Assist with management of all market channels, including direct sales, distributors, OEMs, inter-company, etc. to achieve sales goals.
- Promote Company technology, products, quality, and services through networking with sister companies, customers, and all avenues of reaching targeted prospects, including cold calling.
- Follow up timely on all issues internally and externally; return all forms of communication the same day if possible and leave clear and direct messages.
- Inform Company management of territory activity.
- Prepare weekly sales reports (Monday mornings before 9:00 AM CST) and enter into CRM system.
- Submit monthly equipment dealer inventory reports by the first day of each month by 9:00 CST, including rental and sales activity by serial number and location.
- Produce annual sales planning reports by the end of November each year, including all regional sales and market initiatives.
- Report new contacts into the CRM system promptly.
- Maintain daily contact with Company office.
- Assist with order entry and changes as required.
- May involve visiting customers to generate additional sales and attend trade shows and industry meetings as required.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college/university desired.
- 5+ years of field sales management experience with capital equipment sales through distribution channels, and in a large territory.
- Ability to concurrently handle multiple tasks in a high‑paced environment, manage a geographical territory, set strategic objectives, and meet specific deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong written communication skills for reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to present information and respond to customer questions, group meetings, and public presentations.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Problem‑solving skills to handle practical scenarios with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled forms.
