Job Summary
Sales associate for new or used vehicles to commercial/fleet customers at a profit while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Meet dealership sales goals.
- Greets customer and determines make, type, and quality of vehicle desired.
- Explains features and demonstrates operation of vehicle in showroom or on road.
- Suggests optional equipment for customer purchase.
- Computes and quotes sales price, including tax, trade‑in allowance, and discount.
- Completes paperwork accompanying vehicle sales, including sales slip or sales contract.
- Arranges for delivery and registration of vehicle.
- Researches availability of models and optional equipment.
- Engages in business development.
- Addresses customer concerns.
- Maintains CSI at or above company standards.
- Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area.
- Participates in required training.
- Records all hours worked accurately in time‑keeping system.
- Follows Safeguards rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates company’s core values.
- Complies with company policies and procedures.
- Observes all federal, state, local, and company safety rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education
- GED or high school diploma (preferred). Associate degree, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate acceptable.
- Experience
- Prior sales and/or customer service experience.
- Up to 3 years of automotive sales experience.
- 3–5 years and 5+ years experience options.
- Certificates and Licenses
- Valid driver’s license.
- Automobile salesperson license.
- Computer Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to learn web applications for customer management.
- Communication Skills
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Effective communication with customers and coworkers.
- Attendance Requirements
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical Demands and Environment
- Standing, walking, sitting; frequent movement on lot and indoors/outdoors.
- Test drives may require driving customer around.
- Other Skills
- Verbal and writing ability: read, comprehend instructions, correspondence, write presentations.
- Math: add, subtract, multiply, divide.
- Reasoning: apply common sense, handle standardized situations.
