Job Summary
The Key Account Manager (KAM) maintains existing business and expands sales in a defined geographic region (reports to the Area Sales Director), promoting IHEEZO and Triesence. Achieves assigned monthly/quarterly/annual revenue and product objectives through consultative, value-based communication with ophthalmologists, optometrists, surgery centers, and staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Meet or exceed quarterly sales revenue and product goals
- Own and drive goals set by the company
- Develop new customers without losing existing base
- Close business deals timely and professionally
- Analyze, develop, and grow territory with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Grow via organic pull-through and adding new customers
- Call on ophthalmic healthcare professionals in defined markets
- Develop physician and staff relationships
- Use internal resources for action plans and problem accounts
- Provide weekly forecasts and updates
- Record all sales activity in CRM (CR,M) with Next Steps
- Maintain in-depth understanding of ophthalmic product portfolio
- Present product/formulation advantages and solutions
- Follow up with urgency
- Collaborate with internal departments and peers
- Travel throughout assigned geography (about 80%; includes overnights)
- Use Salesforce CRM
- Understand Pharmaceutical Industry’s Code of Practice; comply with state and federal requirements
- Manage expenses ethically
- Liaison for customer complaints/issues; follow up
- Submit required reports (including monthly expense reports) on time
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 3+ years buy-and-bill sales and/or medical device sales
- Retina ophthalmology experience preferred (not required)
- Build and foster long-term customer relationships
- Absorb product/practice information quickly and offer resonant solutions
- Execute strategic, targeted business plans
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Clinical understanding in ophthalmology preferred
- Knowledge of physician decision-making for therapies
- Excellent presentation/interpersonal skills; strong communication and writing
- Solid independent judgment, initiative, problem-solving/analytical skills
- Multitask and adjust priorities as needed; proficient with Salesforce
