Security Officer responsible for protecting patients, staff, assets, and facilities within Essentia Health. Duties include deterring criminal activity, identifying hazards, and preventing incidents.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol the healthcare environment to deter criminal activity, identify hazards, and prevent incidents and safety accidents.
- Respond to emergencies, alarms, disasters, and threatening situations with violent, dangerous or combative persons.
- Enforce medical campus rules and take action to maintain order and prevent disruption or interference with medical center operations.
- Age requirement: 21+ years.
- No education requirement.
- Completion of Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers from the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security within 1 year of hire. Renewal is not required.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 months of hire.
- Complete de‑escalation training within 5 months of hire if no prior training or if the last refresher was more than 3 years ago.
- Possess an active and valid driver’s license that meets Essentia Health’s insurer requirements.
- Eligible locations: SJMC, Fargo, Detroit Lakes, Duluth.
4 days on, 4 off. 0600 – 1900 (6:00 AM – 7:00 PM). Holidays and weekends fall on rotation. No remote or hybrid options. Call obligation:
