Job Overview

• Performs general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor.
• Hands dig holes and trenches with a shovel and other hand tools.
• Basic knowledge of underground cable locating.
• Ability to operate various types of trucks and equipment.
• Responsible for transporting equipment and materials.
• Install underground telecommunications cabling.
• Flag traffic, set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers.
• Perform daily walkarounds and alert mechanics of any defects.
• Communicate effectively with customers and employees.

• Climb into and out of equipment (cars, trucks, backhoes, trenchers, etc).
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Know and obey all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Rules and Regulations.
• Perform repetitive motion with hand, wrist, feet, head, and shoulder.
• Work outdoors in a diverse environment.
• Work in congested and remote areas.
• Stand or sit for several hours at a time.
• Work in small or confined areas.
• Work in variable heights or depths.
• Lift or carry up to 75+ pounds.
• Reach, bend, stoop while performing work.
• Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons, vehicles, or objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
• Willing to travel; occasional out-of-town assignments required.
