Join Resource Renew, the brand of Western Lake Superior Sanitary District as a Full-Time Lead Maintenance Electrician. In this role, you will champion the optimalization of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems while mentoring a team of skilled technicians. This role will provide hands‑on technical expertise, strong problem‑solving abilities, a deep knowledge of industrial electrical systems and PLC's with a commitment to safe work practices and supporting reliable plant operations.

Resource Renew, the brand of Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD), is committed to preventing pollution and protecting the environment, including the region's most precious resource - Lake Superior. Founded as a special purpose unit of government created by the Minnesota Legislature in 1971 to address serious environmental pollution problems in the lower St. Louis River Basin, Resource Renew provides wastewater and solid waste services and oversight for a 530 square mile region around Duluth, Minnesota.

Our facilities include a main wastewater treatment plant, multiple pump stations, and solid waste collection sites of varied types.

  • Knowledge and ability to implement safe work practices and procedures including NFPA 70E, Arc Flash, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and Energy Control Procedure
  • Considerable knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and installation of electrical equipment, including motors, controls, switch gear, PLCs, instrumentation, and Allen‑Bradley systems (RSLogix 500/5000, Device Net, Drive Executive, RSLinx, Control FLASH)
  • Knowledge and ability to use, implement and maintain Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems and computerized maintenance/plant operations tools
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and develop appropriate course of action
  • Skilled in the use of standard hand tools and electrical test equipment
  • Ability to provide leadership by advocating for effective strategies, goals and objectives; by providing clear directions to staff and by actively participating in problem solving and decision making
  • Organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate work across cross functional departments
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including preparing clear instructions, data, and reports
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, electrical prints, and specifications
  • Skilled in the operation of electrical test equipment, generators, overhead and mobile cranes, forklifts, and aerial lift platforms
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, and to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to working safely and efficiently
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Completion of a post‑secondary program in electrical maintenance, electrical engineering or related field and five years' experience in wastewater treatment plant or similar industrial facility; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
Licenses and Certifications
  • Possess a valid state of Minnesota Journey worker or Master Electrician license
  • Possess a valid driver's license
