As a Lead Youth Worker, you will provide supervision, guidance, care and safety to at‑risk youth residing in a shelter setting. You will fully support youth in conjunction with the wider staff team as they implement their individualized goals. Your duties will include facilitating groups for residents (e.g., independent‑living skills, anger management, self‑care), coordinating community activities, transporting residents to appointments and outings, performing household duties, maintaining facility upkeep, and keeping documentation through record‑keeping and periodic meetings/training.
You will also have supervisory and training responsibilities and be on‑call. This position works primarily evenings (3 pm–11 pm) during the week and you will be the primary contact for parents/guardians, on‑call supervisors, the Manager and Director, social workers, and law enforcement when the Manager and Director are out. You will assist the Manager and Director with case planning, risk assessment and risk reduction, intake, discharge, and transition plans.
This exciting opportunity is paying between $21‑$23 per hour!
For those covering critical shifts pay will be increased by $2.50 per hour!
- Post‑secondary education is desired.
- Experience with homeless and/or at‑risk youth.
- A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and a Motor Vehicle Check.
- Successfully meet the requirements of a background check.
- Effective working knowledge of adolescent and child development and practice of harm reduction, positive youth development, and trauma‑informed care.
- CPR/First Aid certification and medication administration training is desired; may be obtained after hire.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must work every other weekend.
- Must work 1 week/month on‑call.
