Golf Outside Operations

Northland Country Club is hiring seasonal team members for Golf Outside Operations staff. We are seeking passionate and self-aware individuals who will use their talents in the areas of golf and hospitality to connect with our members and guests to enhance the golf experience. If you are chosen for this role, you will work alongside an exceptional team of PGA professionals and club staff.

Pay: $11.13 to $13 an hour depending on experience

Northland Country Club was founded in1899 by a prominent Duluth businessman. Northland Country Club is one of the five oldest country clubs in Minnesota. Donald Ross was hired by the club in 1923 and laid out a championship golf course that has hosted two prestigious Western Amateurs and a U.S Women's Open. The club plays host to the annual Northland Men's Invitational, one of the oldest amateur match play events in the Midwest, the 99th edition of which will be conducted in 2024.

Featuring dramatic vistas of Lake Superior and over 400 feet of elevation change, the course has been featured in Golf Digests Top 100 Classic U.S. courses and regularly appears in Best in State rankings.

Job purpose

Greets all members by name and provides outstanding service and information regarding golf functions to members and guests with clean carts, towels, and accessories. Enforces Dress Code Policy.

Duties and responsibilities

• Pull bags of members on tee sheet and places on cart in staging area.
• Highlights all bags that have been put out so members can be notified if bags went to range with member of foursome.
• Assists members to range if needed.
• One bag room attendant must be stationed in the parking lot at all times.
• One bag room attendant must be stationed in the staging area at all times.
• Upon closing, all carts must be accounted for, cleaned, dried, rakes in place, sand refilled and pockets wiped down. Clean clubs.
• During overlapping shifts, sand should be refilled and empty carts on range and first tees should be returned to Cart Barn.
• Valet parking.
• Supplies carts to the parking lot area and transports cart with bag to staging area. (The parking area attendant does not drive cart to staging area and may not leave their area unattended.)
• Any trash is to be picket up on both sides during each shift.
• Towels are to be washed, dried and folded throughout the day.
• Water dispenser must be kept stocked with cups, lids and straws at all times. The dispenser must be kept clean at all times.
• Checks for loose balls and dispose of debris at cart washing area.
• Closing procedure checklist must be completed each evening and signed by team members closing. Opening staff must leave previous night's list on desk.
• Assists on the range as needed as well as serving as a ranger on the golf course.
• Enforces all Club roles and regulation i.e., the dress code.
• Demonstrates courtesy to all Members and Guests at all times.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the game of golf
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Valid Driver's License
• Position requires standing and lifting of bags
• Bending and crouching for up to 3 hours is required for detailing and washing carts
• Outstanding communication skills
• High School Diploma or GED
• Outstanding memory to remember guests and member names
• Outstanding personality with the ability to interact with people
• Integrity beyond reproach

Working conditions

Work is primarily outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.
