The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall management of the company’s vehicle and equipment fleet. This includes scheduling and performing maintenance, tracking vehicle performance, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, managing budgets, and coordinating with both internal teams and external vendors. The Fleet Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining accurate tracking systems for all company assets, including trucks, heavy equipment, small machinery, and tools.

This role requires regular analysis of current operations, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing process improvements that enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and lower operational costs. The Fleet Manager will continually evaluate fleet performance, explore innovative solutions, and strategically plan for future fleet development and optimization.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in fleet, machine and equipment management, logistics, transportation, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in managing vehicle maintenance, machine, maintenance, equipment maintenance repairs, and compliance.
  • Understanding of vehicle mechanics, machine maintenance, equipment mechanics, maintenance schedules, and repair processes.
  • Knowledge of fuel efficiency and vehicle, machines and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, OSHA standards, and other relevant laws.
  • Strong multitasking abilities to manage scheduling, vehicle, machine and equipment assignments, and team coordination.
  • Ability to handle emergencies, such as breakdowns or accidents, efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and make cost-effective decisions.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or understanding of CDL requirements for fleet vehicles.
Responsibilities:

These duties are not just limited to the above; they will also include any area where Miller Creek needs assistance.

Fleet Tracking, Reporting & Asset Management
  • Develop and maintain accurate systems for tracking all company assets: vehicles, heavy equipment, small equipment, tools, and attachments.
  • Maintain detailed records of usage, assignments, maintenance history, inspections, and repair activities.
  • Perform regular audits to identify missing, misused, or underutilized equipment.
  • Establish and enforce processes for equipment check‑in/out, usage logging, and damage reporting.
  • Generate reports that help leadership understand fleet condition, costs, and operational trends.
Maintenance & Repair Oversight
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform or coordinate repairs as appropriate.
  • Lead preventive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and extend asset life.
  • Manage maintenance scheduling to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors when specialized repairs or services are needed.
  • Ensure all work is completed to professional quality and safety standards.
Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency
  • Analyze current workflows, fleet usage, maintenance processes, and equipment allocation to identify inefficiencies.
  • Create and refine systems, procedures, and SOPs that improve fleet accuracy, productivity, and accountability.
  • Implement technologies or methods that streamline tracking, recordkeeping, and communication.
  • Develop strategies to save time and reduce costs through smarter utilization of existing fleet assets.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement within fleet operations.
Fleet Optimization & Strategic Planning
  • Assess short‑and‑long‑term fleet needs based on company growth, workload, and seasonal requirements.
  • Plan fleet turnover, replacement cycles, and expansion with consideration for budget, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Optimize fleet organization, layout, storage, and deployment for efficient daily operations.
