Role OverviewAs a Driver Coordinator you are responsible for operating tractor‑trailer equipment (Van Trailer, Class A or Tanker) and maintaining it properly to transport material to designated locations in a timely manner. You will work closely with Dispatch and customers to help plan daily workloads for product transporting needs, assist in directing support trucks, and help identify issues in the field that need to be addressed or improved upon.
Home time is great with our 2/2/3 schedule (works every other weekend). We are currently looking to fill night positions (6 pm – 6 am).
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in creating weekly work and trucking schedules for the team and support trucks.
- Assist in directing drivers and support trucks in the field to determine job order and final destination of loads.
- Assist in creating overall schedule for support based on workload and deadlines.
- Inspect and assist others with trucks for defects before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition, ensuring pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections are performed correctly and maintaining driver logs according to FMCSA regulations.
- Monitor drivers and coordinate with shop on daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights and any other maintenance instructed to perform.
- Recognize surroundings, point out job hazards, relay information and inform other drivers to practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment. Conduct/perform a daily work plan.
- Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch.
- Maintain and support a safe and harassment‑free work environment to include appropriate etiquette on 2‑way and CB radios.
- Consult on logistical issues.
- Communicate with dispatch to coordinate changes in times and enforce turnkey times and end times.
- Enforce wearing of proper PPE.
- Treat others with courtesy and respect.
- Provide feedback and coaching in consultation with transportation manager.
- Safely operate Class A or B truck to transport products.
- Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork.
- Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance and attend required training.
- Always work safely and take action to prevent all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
- Self‑motivated, team‑player with excellent interpersonal skills; able to maintain positive customer and co‑worker relations and act courteous and respectful toward others.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, recognize matters needing attention and initiate action on them, including employee coaching and recognition.
- Maintain customer service communication between team in a professional manner to retain customers and team.
- General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high‑school diploma or equivalent.
- CDL Class A (tractor‑trailer) license. Preference given for experience driving a 53’ van trailer.
- Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.
- Drop and Hook experience with unloading docks.
