Summer hours:
Monday – Thursday; 6:00 am – 4:30 pm. Winter hours:
Monday
- Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; or snow and ice shifts (A or

B) with 8+ hours per shift depending on operations. Hours may include overtime and may require nights, weekends, and holidays. Incumbents must have immediate access to a phone and be able to report within one hour of being called.

Examples of work include, but are not limited to:

• Function:
  Road Surface/Roadway Maintenance
  • Perform all activities required for roadside maintenance
  • Perform roadway surface maintenance
  • Service and minor repairs to operating equipment
  • Provide traffic control
  • Perform basic construction monitoring and inspection activities
  • Other duties as required
• Function:
  Snow and Ice
  • Maintain roadways for snow and ice control
  • Prepare and inspect winter equipment
  • Preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup
  • Prepare snow/ice chemical stockpiles and distribution
  • Install, repair, maintain, and remove snow fences; replace mailboxes
  • Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management
  • Traffic control set-ups and/or notify dispatch of disabled vehicles

Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction or equivalent from another state and obtain a valid Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of placement. May be required to obtain a Tanker Endorsement sooner than 6 months.

Incumbent must also be registered in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Commercial Driver's License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Exam Part 1: The level of experience to perform this job at the TG level can be achieved with:

• Experience: One (1) year of experience in snow/ice, soils, road/roadway maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (driving commercial vehicles, heavy equipment operation, or related work).

OR

• Education Substitution: Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) substitutes for one year of experience. Transcripts may be required.

AND

• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand information; communicate with employees and the public; and maintain routine logs and records.

Exam Part 2: Contingent offers will require a computerized Math and Reading Assessment Test. Passing scores:
Math level 3 or higher and Reading level 4 or higher. If previously taken and passed, you may be exempt. Check with district HR for details.
