We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Advanced Manufacturing - Moore County Campuswho will be all-in on our mission and who will follow Amarillo College Mission and Strategic Goals and teach courses in the Advanced Manufacturing Program including
Advanced Manufacturing core classes, and specialization courses in Electromechanical, Instrumentation, Renewable Energy, and HVAC areas. Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, tech-supported, or online courses and in immediate preparation for respective courses, maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught.
This position is filled on an as needed basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required:
Associate degree or higher and demonstrated competencies in Advanced Manufacturing, i.e., Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field.
* High quality work experience and professional certifications may substitute for educational requirements.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Advanced Manufacturing or Mechatronics.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Three (3) years of industry related work experience.
Preferred:
Five (5) years of industry related work experience.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
* Teach Advanced Manufacturing courses as assigned each semester. Courses may be scheduled during mornings, afternoons, or evenings. Locations include any Amarillo College Campus, or any off-campus instructional site (Dumas, Hereford, partner high schools, and TDCJ Unit).
* Teach assigned course(s) utilizing appropriate and engaging instructional methods and techniques.
* Create engaging lesson plans that promote student involvement and application of the material.
* Submit college reports and forms in a timely manner.
* Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
* Advise students before/after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
* Evaluate students to measure their progress.
* Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
* Participate in course and curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
* Design and implement assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
* Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance and academic performance.
* Perform effective teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
* Plan, develop and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
* Perform other work-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Ability to follow industrial safety standards.
* Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
* Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, equipment design, and production of various goods and services.
* Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
* Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
* Knowledge of servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or mechanical principles.
* Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
* Ability to repair machines or systems using the needed tools.
* Ability to troubleshoot mechanical electrical machines and systems.
* Good oral and written command of the English language and grammar is required.
* Ability to understand and apply learner-centered and high impact instructional methods.
* Skills in computer operation.
* Ability to work under stress, independently and as a team member.
* Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
* Ability to educate themselves regarding college policies.
* Ability to maintain regular communication with students and provide constructive feedback to students.
* Ability to demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.
* Ability to ensure effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility.
* Ability to teach day and/or evening courses as required.
