Job Summary

Gain a SCQF Level 6 qualification in Vehicle Body Repair and work full‑time in a garage workshop. The role is based at FMG Repair Services in Dumfries.

Job Overview

Are you looking to earn while you learn? This modern apprenticeship offers hands‑on training to repair vehicle damage to an exacting standard, with a dedicated mentor and exposure to a wide range of vehicles.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for learning all aspects of repairing accident‑damaged vehicles, including chassis alignment, panel repair and replacement, welding, and preparation for painting. Key tasks include:

  • Assessing a vehicle to establish the extent of damage
  • Deciding whether to repair or replace bodywork based on the initial assessment
  • Removing damaged panels
  • Stripping and refitting trim and interior panels
  • Refitting new or repaired panels
Training and Qualification

The apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with GTG Training and culminates in an SCQF Level 6 qualification in Vehicle Body Repair. Regular assessment and reviews are carried out at both the workplace and at GTG Training.

Qualifications

Applicants must have or expect to gain National 4 or above in English, Maths, and either a Science or a Technical subject. Literacy, numeracy, reliability, and a keen willingness to learn are essential.

Apprenticeship Summary
  • Working week:
    Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (40 hours per week)
  • Duration: 36 months
