Administrative Assistant – Department of Transportation – District 7
Location: Duncan, OK
Job Type: Full‑time, Regular
Compensation: $45,600.00 – Level I, $50,200.00 – Level II

Core Responsibilities- Participate in projects as a team member or leader.
- Develop and implement special procedures.
- Initiate correspondence requiring knowledge of agency procedures and policies.
- Create and maintain confidential or complex files.
- Interpret and advise internal and external customers on departmental rules, regulations, and laws.
- Administer, prepare, or oversee administrative operational functions such as invoicing, payment of claims, requisitions, purchase orders, bookkeeping or accounting.
- Represent the agency or supervisor at meetings, conferences, or civic organizations.
- Coordinate activities with internal and external customers.
- Establish educational and/or training programs.
- Interview callers, arrange appointments, and perform other office tasks and duties.
- Utilize advanced technological equipment and data processing equipment to provide requested information, review coded and uncoded source documents, edit documents and reports, and examine reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Resolve discrepancies and refer complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Train or mentor other staff and supervise subordinate staff.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or four years of technical clerical, administrative, secretarial, or general office work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Spelling, punctuation, business English; business mathematics; modern office methods and procedures; maintenance of complex records; major policies and procedures governing assigned programs; ability to establish effective working relationships, perform confidential work, and follow written and oral instructions.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree plus one year of technical clerical, administrative, secretarial, or general office work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Spelling, punctuation, business English; business mathematics; modern office methods and procedures; maintenance of records; major policies and procedures governing assigned programs; ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external partners, customers, and staff; perform confidential work; and interpret and respond to inquiries at various levels of complexity.
- Frequent travel may be required for some positions.
- Typing or keyboarding at a rate of 50 words per minute from printed copy may be required.
- Specific bachelor’s degree or college hours requirements may apply for particular positions.
