Teacher Assistant – Special Education Paraprofessional (Behavior Intervention Aide)
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have one of the following:
- 48 College Credit Hours
- Associate Degree
- Passed OGET Test
- Passed PARAPRO Test (you may apply without and will have the opportunity to pass PARAPRO Test after job offer)
- Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT Work Keys assessment
- Must pass a National Criminal History Record Check.
- State Department of Education requirements.
- Demonstrates aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward a school environment.

Reports ToTeacher, Building Administrator
Performance Responsibilities- Prepare for classroom activities under supervision of a certified teacher.
- Performs clerical duties for assigned teachers.
- Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
- Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
- Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary (accompany students off campus, to physical therapy, to P.E. Class, help on and off the bus).
- Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as feeding, toilet (may include diapering), clothing routines, physical therapy, and basic needs.
- Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.
- Assists the teacher in duplication of needed materials.
- Grades papers, helps with records when called upon to do so.
- Assists with an individual child's particular needs when called upon to do so.
- Works with students on an individual basis.
- Guides students in their participation in school and community activities.
- Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality.
- Performs other related tasks as directed by the teacher and/or building administrator may assign from time to time.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the public and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
OtherSkills and Abilities
Ability to cooperate in a team effort with other employees.
