As we continue to grow in the United States, we are seeking a Project Controller to strengthen financial oversight and performance management within our project-driven environment.

What Will Be Your Role?

As a Project Controller, you will be a key member of the Finance team at AWL Automation in the U.S., partnering closely with Project Managers and Business Unit leadership to ensure projects are delivered within budget and aligned with financial targets.

You will monitor and manage the financial performance of assigned projects from sales handoff through commissioning and close-out. You will proactively identify financial, operational, and commercial risks, provide actionable insights, and ensure strong administrative and financial discipline across all project phases.

This role requires a highly analytical mindset, strong communication skills, and the confidence to both support and challenge project teams to maintain financial control and accountability.

What Do We Expect From You?
Core Responsibilities
  • Partner with Project Managers to financially manage projects from initiation through commissioning and service.
  • Review and validate project budgets, cost calculations, and financial overviews.
  • Enter and maintain project budgets and forecasts in the ERP system and project tracking tools.
  • Monitor project costs including labor hours, rates, purchasing, subcontractors, and revenue recognition.
  • Analyze working capital exposure and recommend invoicing schedules and payment terms.
  • Identify financial, operational, commercial, and legal risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support bank guarantees, bonding, and other project-related financial instruments when required.
  • Evaluate currency exposure and assist with mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely project invoicing and revenue recognition.
  • Monitor project margin, cost coverage, and financial performance.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual project financial reports.
  • Lead post-calculation reviews and variance analysis against original budgets.
  • Support month-end closing, forecasting, and annual budgeting for assigned projects.
  • Maintain accurate project master data and ensure administrative compliance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting tools.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project controlling, financial analysis, or project accounting within a manufacturing or automation environment.
  • Strong understanding of project-based accounting and revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience working in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics/Navision experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of working capital management and cash flow forecasting.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and assess commercial risk.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Work Environment
  • Combination of office and production/manufacturing floor environment.
  • Frequent interaction with engineering, operations, supply chain, and project teams.
Travel Requirement
  • Up to 15% domestic travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
