You will be a key player in directing daily production while working together with hourly and salary personnel. This includes building relationships with the EHS, materials, quality, engineering, and other production supervisors.
Qualifications- High school graduate or general education degree required.
- At least three years experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least three years as a manufacturing supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team of manufacturing workers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with people at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ability to run reports.
- Strong organizational and managerial skills required.
- Knowledge and training experience in safety, quality, manufacturing tools & techniques, standards, regulations.
- Control of a safe departmental work space; ability to maintain safety KPIs.
- Basic ship‑math and reading/interpretation of blueprints.
- Computer skills for email, ERP system navigation and various Microsoft Office tools.
- Monitor and maintain safety procedures and conditions to prevent accidents and provide a safe workplace. Participate in all site safety initiatives and focus on leading indicators to drive departmental safety performance.
- Ensure all employees follow safety rules and standards to achieve zero lost‑time accidents and OSHA recordables.
- Hire, train, evaluate manufacturing workers and monitor performance and safety requirements.
- Attend the daily production meeting and provide input, collaborating with peers to remove roadblocks and meet departmental deliverables (e.g., customer on‑time delivery, late back‑order reduction, standard hours, time on product, internal plan attainment).
- Establish and implement daily, weekly, and monthly safety and housekeeping audits.
- Review daily planning reports to determine what can be produced; determine optimal utilization of manufacturing workers and equipment.
- Supervise staff, including hiring, employee communications, training, discipline, evaluation, and terminations; lead daily shift start‑up meetings.
- Drive customer satisfaction through product reliability and quality focus.
- Provide direction and support for an assigned hourly production team encompassing EHS, quality, material, process, and delivery.
- Motivate employees to perform duties using established procedures to meet or exceed goals.
- Lead and support all continuous improvement and LEAN activities.
- Own the department’s equipment, tooling, fixtures, key manufacturing processes, products, and productivity.
- Enforce company policies and take corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with Team Leads to develop and execute training plans for operators; ensure cross‑training.
- Communicate clearly within the work group and ensure timely follow‑up on issues and concerns.
- Troubleshoot and solve operation problems when identified.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem‑solving.
- Identify opportunities to increase employee engagement, motivation, and collaboration across work groups.
- Responsible for all time and attendance functions.
- Exposure to the shop floor requires wearing PPE.
- Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting are part of the job.
The employee will normally work in a temperature‑controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Periodically exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
