Trim Technician
Duncan, OK
The Trim Technician is responsible for performing precision trim operations on formed sheet metal aircraft parts in accordance with engineering requirements, customer specifications, and internal work instructions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring parts meet dimensional, quality, and cosmetic requirements for our aerospace customers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-focused, and capable of working in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment while maintaining low scrap rates and high production efficiency.
Skills and Experience
- Perform trim operations on formed sheet metal aircraft components using approved tools, fixtures, and equipment.
- Read and follow route cards, work instructions, engineering drawings, and customer specifications to ensure proper processing.
- Pull and verify the correct tooling required for each job, such as setback router jigs, trim fixtures, templates, and other specialized tooling.
- Set up trim tooling and equipment to ensure proper part alignment and repeatable results.
- Perform first piece inspections to verify conformance prior to full production runs.
- Inspect parts throughout the trimming process to ensure compliance with dimensional, tolerance, and cosmetic requirements.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to resolve discrepancies and ensure all inspection requirements are met.
- Communicate with Shop Supervisor, Production Manager, and other departments regarding job status, tooling issues, or quality concerns.
- Identify and report nonconforming conditions, damaged tooling, or process issues immediately.
- Maintain traceability and proper documentation throughout the manufacturing process.
- Handle aerospace parts carefully to prevent scratches, dents, deformation, or other damage.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, quality, and scrap reduction.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company standards.
