Job Summary
The registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence‑based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities, and patient populations. The RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor, and promotes an inter‑professional culture of collaborative decision‑making, innovation, life‑long learning, and teamwork.
Responsibilities(Essential Functions)
- Restore and promote patient’s health by completing the nursing process including assessment, analysis of data, establishing goals, prioritizing and implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, providers, registered nurses, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Identify patient care needs by establishing personal rapport with patients and families and provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
- Identify patient and family education needs and utilize appropriate resources to meet those needs.
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic and regulatory standards; administer medications and treatments prescribed by any person authorized by state law to prescribe.
- Protect patients and team members by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Document patient care services timely and accurately.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Delegate tasks as may safely be performed by others, consistent with educational preparation and that do not conflict with the provisions of the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
- Follow the established care plan and provide ongoing education for patients and families.
- Ensure operation of equipment by verifying preventive maintenance requirements are completed; calling for repairs; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Appropriately adapt assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age‑specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship among health‑care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem‑solving methods.
- Utilize assistive devices for lifting as mandatory.
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Meet all required conditions of employment, including required vaccinations.
- Undergo respirator and fit testing at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet‑producing procedures, or caustic chemicals.
- Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English.
- Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt quickly to urgent situations.
- Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
- Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).
- Current, unencumbered RN license in the State of Oklahoma or multistate licensure in a party state in compliance with primary residency rules and requirements.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required; may have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain.
This is a “Safety‑Sensitive” position as defined by Oklahoma law.
