Responsibilities
- Provides patient care under the direction of the registered nurse (RN), including but not limited to turning, moving, or ambulating patients, gathering medical supplies, checking vital signs, performing finger sticks, cleaning rooms and bed linens, stocking supplies, assisting with some medical procedures, and transporting patients.
- Communicates effectively with licensed staff.
- Protects patients and team members by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols.
- Documents patient care services timely and accurately.
- Maintains patient confidence and operational confidentiality.
- Ensures equipment operation by verifying preventive maintenance, calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health‑care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem‑solving methods.
- Ensures regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Adapt assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age‑specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities, including internal and external offerings.
- Adheres to safety protocols at all times.
- Utilizes assistive devices for lifting.
- Meets and maintains all required conditions of employment, including required vaccinations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Communication skills, including fluency in oral and written English.
- Basic computer skills: sending/receiving email, navigating information technology associated with the position, and using Electronic Health Record tools.
- Ability to remain flexible and quickly adapt to urgent situations.
- Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish position requirements.
- Current enrollment in good standing in an RN program with proof of satisfactory completion of competency check‑offs for the associated skills listed above.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; candidates may have up to 30 days from the date of hire or transfer to earn BLS.
- For positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
As a “Safety‑Sensitive” Position under Oklahoma law, applicants must not test positive for THC in pre‑employment or post‑employment drug tests. This applies even for individuals holding a valid medical marijuana card. This information is provided for your understanding of the application process.
Respirator and fit testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases or hazardous chemicals. Vaccinations are required per DRH Policy; medical and religious exemptions are available upon request.
