The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for performing and overseeing key accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and commission calculations. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
Month-End & General Ledger- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies
- Reconcile bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, and other key accounts
- Maintain reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
- Calculate and record monthly sales commissions
- Review commission agreements to ensure accurate compensation calculations
- Partner with Sales and HR to validate commission data and resolve discrepancies
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Identify and recommend process improvements
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required - Experience:
3–5+ years of accounting experience; strong experience with balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting; experience calculating commissions or incentive compensation preferred - Skills:
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas); strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail and accuracy; ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
