MissionReeves Construction Company is currently seeking an individual for the position of Skilled Laborer (Grade Crew) based out of Duncan, SC. The successful candidate will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Main Responsibilities- Work involves physical exertion of a practical nature.
- Individual may have limited or no experience in road and/or site construction.
- Abilities must be flexible to allow various labor activities including: shoveling dirt, sand, asphalt or concrete using short or long handle shovels; cutting or trimming trees and vegetation using axes, ditch blades, sling blades, chain saws or power weed trimmers; driving stakes or breaking pavement using sledge hammers, digging holes using hand-operated post hole diggers; operating hand-driven compaction devices; and brooming dirt and debris using hand brooms.
- These activities may take place at asphalt plants, existing roads or streets under traffic, new roads and streets without traffic, various building sites, and office or shop facilities.
- Ability to work safely and follow the policies and procedures of the company.
- Previous experience preferred.
- Driving license preferred; must have reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness and willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
- Periodic evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime hours are expected.
- Must wear proper attire at all times: safety vests, safety glasses, long pants, safety-toed shoes.
- Must provide documentation proving legal right to work in the United States.
The physical demands of this job include using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or walking; speaking or hearing; tasting or smelling. The employee frequently stands and walks, and occasionally sits. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 60 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision;
20/40 visual acuity with or without corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected with an audio device.
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, high precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise levels are typically very loud.
