Job Responsibilities
Oversee the production of various types of equipment and systems. Research, test, implement, and analyze for effectiveness improvements for system and process. Demonstrate success by meeting safety and quality standards while driving revenue increases through improved production processes.
- Lead and train Controls Techs in programming new launches and troubleshooting production equipment issues.
- Write and edit machine control programs to interface process equipment safely.
- Conceive, plan, design, develop, and implement new systems and/or processes.
- Define scope, plan, organize, lead, and direct technical work for new and existing processes and systems.
- Evaluate current manufacturing system hardware/software, equipment/controls, resolve problems and recommend improvements.
- Lead projects to increase equipment uptime using automation to control cost and efficiency.
- Work with internal and external resources to ensure all project needs and expectations are met.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and comply with automotive specifications.
- Assume responsibility for machine safety and building equipment in the respective area.
- Provide maintenance operation troubleshooting and production support; supervise and/or provide work direction to other staff as needed.
- Train maintenance staff on new equipment and changes to existing equipment.
- Upgrade used equipment to run more efficiently.
Perform all work in compliance with Magna Mirrors Lowell's Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all Federal, State, and local laws.
Safety and Compliance- Report any unsafe condition or action to supervisor.
- Report any work‑related injury to supervisor within 8 hours.
- Never operate a machine or equipment until trained and authorized.
- Never remove, displace, destroy, or interfere with safeguards.
- Use required personal protective equipment or devices when required.
- Understand environmental program responsibilities and attend required training.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 3–5 years of related work experience.
- Experience with PLC (Allen Bradley) programming required.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Fanuc robotics strongly preferred.
- Experience with Ethernet JP devices, printers, barcode scanners, and PCs preferred.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to determine customer needs, develop project specifications, and interpret and implement specifications.
- Experience with Visual Basic, Python, and Ignition.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
- Must maintain proper vision requirements.
- Must maintain alertness to surroundings.
- Must have working knowledge of English.
