The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality production of thermoplastic compounds. This role plays a critical part in supporting our commitment to delivering consistent quality and exceptional customer service, while driving process improvements in line with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Process optimization:
Develop and implement manufacturing processes that improve efficiency, reduce cost, increase quality, and ensure consistency of product performance. - Technical troubleshooting:
Provide technical support to production teams for process-related issues, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions. - New product introduction:
Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to scale up new product formulations from pilot to full-scale manufacturing. - Standard operating procedures (SOPs):
Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation in accordance with quality system requirements. - Data analysis:
Collect and analyze process data using statistical methods to monitor trends, identify variances, and drive improvements (e.g., SPC, DOE, Six Sigma methodologies). - Compliance & certification support:
Ensure all processes comply with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards. Support internal and external audits as needed. - Continuous improvement:
Lead or support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives to reduce waste, improve flow, and enhance workplace safety. - Cross-functional collaboration:
Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, R&D, and Production teams to ensure process reliability and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in process engineering, ideally in plastics compounding, extrusion, or polymer processing.
- Familiarity with thermoplastic materials, compounding equipment (twin-screw extruders, feeders, etc.), and material testing methods.
- Strong understanding of quality systems and certifications: IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Proficient in process control tools and statistical analysis (e.g., Minitab, SPC, DOE).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on, detail-oriented approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong EHS culture.
