HTI is hiring a Customs & Tariff Specialist for a global automotive manufacturer in Duncan, SC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced international trade professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys working at the intersection of supply chain, customs compliance, and global logistics.
What You'll Do- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and international import/export regulations.
- Maintain HTS classifications and review customs documentation for accuracy.
- Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to support timely customs clearance.
- Manage compliance activities related to trade programs including USMCA, CAFTA, and other free trade agreements.
- Monitor tariff changes, trade policies, anti-dumping duties, and other regulatory developments.
- Analyze tariff impacts, landed costs, and identify duty savings opportunities.
- Support customs audits, internal compliance reviews, and regulatory recordkeeping.
- Partner with Purchasing, Logistics, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve customs issues and maintain uninterrupted material flow.
- Prepare reports on duty spend, tariff exposure, brokerage activity, and compliance metrics while driving continuous process improvements.
- 3–7 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, import/export, or tariff administration.
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred; automotive experience is a plus.
- Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
- Strong knowledge of HTS classifications, customs valuation, country of origin rules, import/export regulations, and international shipping documentation.
- Familiarity with USMCA, CBP regulations, EAR, OFAC, and global trade compliance programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- SAP and advanced Excel experience are preferred.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), or Certified Export Specialist (CES) certifications are a plus.
