Site Sourcing Specialist
The Site Sourcing Specialist supports sourcing and supply chain activities within a manufacturing environment by serving as the primary site-level liaison between internal stakeholders and regional commodity teams. This role is responsible for managing site-specific sourcing initiatives, supplier-related issues, documentation and compliance activities, and business process improvements. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of buying or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, demonstrates strong organizational skills, and can successfully drive tasks and projects from initiation through completion.
Responsibilities
- Monitor direct material variances and communicate relevant information to finance and bid/proposal teams.
- Enter, maintain, and update sourcing rules and parameters within the ERP system.
- Participate in identifying productivity improvement opportunities and communicate site requirements to regional commodity teams.
- Gather and communicate site needs through regular interaction with internal stakeholders and end users.
- Obtain supplier samples and coordinate APQP/PPAP qualification activities with quality and engineering teams.
- Support material changeover activities related to supplier resourcing and supplier rationalization initiatives.
- Provide site-level documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements, to regional commodity teams.
- Request and review fixed asset reports with site sourcing management on a monthly basis.
- Assist with documentation projects related to compliance requirements and business process improvements.
- Serve as the first-level escalation point for supplier-related issues affecting the Supply Chain group.
- Manage invoice discrepancies, engineering change requests, claims, and chargebacks.
- Manage assigned site-specific commodities and services, including supplier qualification activities and participation in RFI/RFQ processes.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support sourcing and operational objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Economics, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Three to five years of experience within a manufacturing, transportation, or heavy construction environment required.
- Three to five years of buying, purchasing, or sourcing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with suppliers, sourcing activities, and procurement processes.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and completing assignments from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with limited supervision.
- Strong buying, purchasing, and sourcing knowledge within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to remain focused, stay on course, and successfully complete projects and assignments from initiation through completion.
- Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor information for different audiences.
- Strategic problem-solving and analytical skills to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to respond constructively to feedback and recommend process improvements.
- Knowledge of project management, material planning, quality processes, and supply chain operations.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle, JD Edwards, SAP, or Baan.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.
- Professional communication and relationship management skills when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work within an ISO/IRIS quality system environment.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
- Understanding of import and export regulations.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, exchange rates, and related purchasing considerations.
