Overview

Job Title: Industrial Electromechanic

Department: Maintenance Team

Reports to: Operations Leader

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay rate: $31.72/hr

Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off every week)

Summary

The Industrial Electromechanic position is a non-exempt position that reports to the Operations Leader. The employee is responsible for ensuring the plant runs efficiently by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment and facility needs, and managing outside resources (parts or vendors) as necessary. This role is approximately 70% electrical and 30% mechanical in daily function. An electrical troubleshooting proficiency task will be completed during the interview to assess expertise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs self-directed reactive and planned maintenance, including diagnosing root causes, dismantling components to access defective parts, inspecting parts, adjusting and repairing devices and control instruments, testing performance and electrical circuitry, reconditioning and repairing machine tools, and performing simple welding. Orders supplies and repair items as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots machinery with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Provides support and back up for other department members as needed by management.
  • Assists production technicians and leadership in small teams.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots machine failures; acts as a proactive project manager and works closely with management.
  • Design capability to lay out, wire, build, and troubleshoot electrical panels and/or other machinery according to NFPA/NEC standards.
  • Maintains grounds and building exterior; performs routine electrical, mechanical, and basic HVAC repairs.
  • CNC maintenance experience/background preferred.
  • Experience with analog electronics, PLC ladder diagrams, and programming.
  • Be on call for weekend and off-normal-hours work.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English; strong communication skills; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize, and able to multi-task; strong internal and external customer service skills; team player.
  • Able to read blueprints and use measuring instruments; perform basic failure analysis and solve problems in environments with limited standardization.
  • Understanding of electronic and mechanical components to troubleshoot and repair; troubleshoot industrial electrical issues with or without drawings or schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and interpret data (unit conversions, ratios, percentages); interpret various written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
Computer and Software Competencies

The employee must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent (GED). An associate degree with a technical focus is preferred but not required.
  • Possess an unrestricted driver’s license.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in industrial maintenance is required, with proficiency in industrial electrical troubleshooting.
Essential

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
  • Pushing/pulling on bolts, equipment, etc. without strain.
  • Bending, twisting, or other awkward positions to fix equipment.
  • Ability to move up to 50 pounds.
