Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Manager to lead and oversee the operations of our mid-sized chemical manufacturing facility specializing in batch chemical processes. The Plant Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the plant, including production, safety, quality, efficiency, and cost management. This role demands a strategic leader who can drive continuous improvement, optimize processes, and ensure the plant operates in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the plant, ensuring smooth and efficient production of batch chemical products.
- Develop and implement operational plans to meet production goals, reduce costs, and improve throughput.
- Manage the plant's production schedule to ensure product quality, quantity, and timely delivery to customers.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of production supervisors, operators, and other staff members.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities to employees to enhance skills and performance.
- Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Drive initiatives to optimize batch processes, reduce cycle times, and improve product yield and quality.
- Implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to enhance overall plant efficiency.
- Ensure the plant operates in strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a strong safety culture by identifying and mitigating risks, conducting safety audits, and promoting safe working practices.
- Ensure adherence to all plant safety protocols and emergency response plans.
- Monitor and enforce the highest quality standards across all stages of the production process.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to resolve any quality-related issues.
- Investigate and implement corrective actions for any deviations from quality standards or customer specifications.
- Oversee plant equipment and ensure proper maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and manage preventive maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure that all equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Ensure the plant is in compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives.
- Monitor environmental impact, waste management, and emissions controls.
- Manage documentation related to compliance and regulatory reporting.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or comparable experience. - Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a batch chemical process plant. - Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of batch chemical manufacturing processes, equipment, and industry best practices. Experience with batch process automation and control systems is desirable. - Leadership

Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to chemical manufacturing (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO, FDA, etc.). - Software
Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.), and process control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in batch process manufacturing (chemical industry preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead and complete improvement projects in a manufacturing setting
- Solid knowledge of safety and environmental regulations applicable to chemical manufacturing
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
