CNC Machinist

Job Description

Wabtec Corporation is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services for freight and transit rail. We are looking for a skilled CNC operator to set up and operate multiple CNC machine tools in a low volume, high mix, job shop environment. You will be responsible for all phases of the production process from the first cut to the final product, maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety regulations and ISO/TS, IRIS, AAR & CMMI requirements.

• Hourly pay $22.00 – $26.00, with benefits beginning on day 1 (medical, dental, vision and supplemental options at low rates).

• Must work third shift: 7:00 pm – 5:30 am.
• Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology, high‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of CNC experience.
• Knowledge of shop math (trigonometry, Pythagorean theorem).
• Ability to interpret and edit CNC program code.
• Knowledge of GD&T and inspection methods.
• Basic rigging, crane operation, and crane/hoist inspection knowledge.
• Ability to plan and execute highly complex work to precision tolerances.
• Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, toolprints, and sketches.
• Work independently without supervision.

• Perform machine‑tool setup within standard route times.
• Operate multiple machine tools simultaneously.
• Achieve desired productivity based on product cycle time > 90%.
• Navigate FANUC controls and inspect wear & geometry pages.
• Troubleshoot and return machines to production quickly.
• Use Renishaw Probing system for simple functions.
• Set up and operate CMM.
• Inspect products against engineering blueprints.
• Complete and sign off FAI.
• Enter SPC data and adjust process based on data analysis.
• Perform TPM inspection and complete the associated checklist.
• Maintain 5S requirements in the work cell.
• Contribute to continuous improvement (SMED, Kaizen, fixture design).
• Other duties as assigned.

Stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, and reach with hands and arms frequently. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Indoor manufacturing environment with exposure to production machinery, overhead cranes, and forklift traffic. Personal protective equipment required.
