Wabtec Now Hiring for a CNC Machinist (Direct Hire)
Location:
Duncan, SC
Pay Rate: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Schedules Available- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM-11:00 PM, plus $1.00/hr differential
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM-7:30 AM, plus $1.25/hr differential
- Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday, 5:00 AM-5:00 PM, paid for 40 hours
Wabtec is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist for a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for setting up and operating multiple CNC machine tools while maintaining precision, quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Education Requirements- Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience
- Ability to interpret and edit CNC programs
- Experience navigating FANUC controls
- Knowledge of GD&T symbols and inspection methods
- Understanding of shop math, trigonometry, and the Pythagorean theorem
- Ability to read complex engineering blueprints, tool prints, and sketches
- Knowledge of basic rigging, crane operation, and hoist safety
- Set up and operate multiple CNC machine tools
- Complete machining processes from initial setup through finished production
- Edit CNC programs and adjust wear and geometry offsets
- Use Renishaw probing systems
- Set up and operate coordinate measuring machines
- Inspect finished parts using gauges and engineering blueprints
- Complete first-article inspections and documentation
- Enter SPC data and adjust machining processes based on results
- Troubleshoot equipment and production concerns
- Perform scheduled equipment inspections
- Maintain daily 5S standards
- Support Kaizen, SMED, fixture design, and other continuous improvement activities
- Stand and walk throughout the shift
- Frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds
- Use hands and arms to operate tools, controls, and equipment
- Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Meet the visual requirements necessary for precision inspection work
