Job Description
- Responsible for all product and component inspection, audit, and testing activities throughout all stages of manufacturing, ensuring compliance with established product and component technical specifications.
- Responsible for conducting process audits as required.
- Comply with AFL's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements and verify that quality stations are maintained in an organized and clean condition in accordance with 5S principles.
- Records all defects and nonconformities identified during inspections, audits, and testing activities.
- Responsible for notifying the Quality Supervisor and requesting production containment actions under any of the following conditions:
- When a critical defect is detected (refer to the defect classification list for clarification).
- When two or more defects of the same type are identified.
- When detected defects result in performance levels exceeding the established PPM targets.
- Follows up and ensures the implementation of corrective and preventive actions resulting from customer complaints, shipment returns, and other quality-related issues affecting products or components.
- Responsible for administering the measurement equipment calibration program through the MP9 system, ensuring internal validation activities are performed, calibration labels are properly maintained, and measurement tools remain in suitable condition, calibrated, and available for use.
- Responsible for reporting any concerns, abnormalities, or unusual situations occurring on the production line to the Quality Supervisor.
- Requests support from the Quality Supervisor for specialized training whenever required to ensure effective job performance and compliance with quality requirements.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of Oracle, QAPV, engineering drawing interpretation, and basic functional concepts of fiber optic products and components.
Power
Skills:
Quality Focus, Decision Making, Communication, Teamwork and Initiative.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Quality Control processes.
Education:
High School Diploma
Quality Responsibilities:
- Understand, comprehend, and apply the Company’s Quality Policy, as well as the Quality Objectives.
- Know and apply the procedures relevant to their process.
- Support process compliance with the ISO 9001 standard, internal procedures, and specific customer requirements.
- Actively participate in process improvement projects, ensuring they meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard and the Quality Management System.

EHSS Responsibilities:
- Understand, apply, and promote compliance with the EHS policy and its environmental, occupational health and safety objectives, as well as the operational and administrative controls related to the EHSS Management System, to maintain and improve the organization's environmental performance.
- Report any incidents related to personnel injuries or environmental hazards to the EHS department as soon as possible.
Authorities:
- Authority to stop the production line when processing conditions do not ensure that the product is being manufactured in accordance with established product specifications.
- Authority to stop the production line when control of the processed material has been lost (e.g., excessive rework and/or defects, high scrap levels, accumulation of product, operators not certified for critical operations, etc.).
- Escalate potential customer-impact issues identified because of process-related problems detected during manufacturing operations.
