Assistant Director of Transportation / Lot Supervisor
Reports to:
Director of Transportation
A high school diploma is required and supervisory experience is required. Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain, a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) along with South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) school bus driver certification. Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing school bus operations is strongly preferred. Familiarity with school bus routing systems and scheduling practices is also preferred.
Purpose:The Assistant Director of Transportation assists the Director of Transportation in providing bus transportation for Spartanburg District 5 students. This position coordinates training programs, supervises employees and carries out day to day routines in the absence of the director.
Responsibilities:- Supervises bus drivers, bus monitors and all other transportation staff
- Assess a wide variety of transportation related activities (incidents, complaints, accidents, etc.) to reach resolutions according to District guidelines while always placing the safety students and staff as the highest priority
- Collaborates with administrators to implement and maintain services and programs.
- Prepares and maintains school bus routes for assigned areas
- Conducts annual review of bus stops, walking routes, bridge and railroad crossings
- Designs and implements new school bus routes
- Ensures district compliance with all local, state and federal school bus/pupil regulations
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of school bus drivers and staff in accordance with district policies and state transportation regulations.
- Performs all other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.
