Advanced Accounting Support Class
The purpose of this class is to provide advanced accounting support for the College, including internal auditing, financial analysis and complex account reconciliation, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and federal, state and local guidelines.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor's Degree and four (4) years of related accounting experience or Associate's Degree and six (6) years of related accounting experience; demonstrated intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and financial management systems. Experience in higher education and Ellucian Banner is preferred.
Class Specific Essential Duties- Prepare and reconcile bank statements to the general ledger for all College and related bank accounts.
- Assist the Director of Accounting with financial report preparation and training of college personnel on financial management systems.
- Provide advanced guidance and support to accounting staff by identifying errors and determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Audit and approve financial documents for accuracy and compliance with College policy and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare budget forecasts and analyze revenue and expense trends to support decision-making.
- Monitor, audit, and reconcile accounts; prepare and post adjusting entries.
- Prepare accounting schedules, reports, and supporting documentation for management, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Serve as the College's Bank Web Administrator; oversee banking platforms, including user access, security, training, internal controls, and coordination with financial institutions, IT, and campus leadership.
- Lead complex bank and general ledger reconciliations across multiple entities; resolve reconciling items to ensure accurate financial reporting and cash management.
- Perform advanced payroll accounting, including reconciliation of payroll bank and liability accounts, outstanding check analysis, discrepancy resolution, and adjusting journal entries.
- Monitor and reconcile payroll-related liabilities and benefit accounts; analyze variances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with payroll corrections and redistributions; ensure proper funding, documentation, and audit support.
- Prepare financial projections, forecasts, and trend analyses to support planning and decision-making.
- Prepare accounting schedules, reports, and audit support; respond to auditor requests and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Exercise independent judgment in complex accounting functions impacting multiple College entities, ensuring the integrity of cash management and financial reporting systems.
