Under general supervision, facilitates, coordinates and expedites the development, design, review, approval, and construction of County capital building projects and renovations with a prime focus on Furnishings and Fixtures and Equipment (FFE). This is commercial construction of various levels including new buildings requiring design, bid and construction. Each Specialist must manage multiple projects concurrently.

Primary Duties
  • Manage office furniture design, purchases, and installation.
  • Manage office relocations.
  • Manage small office renovations.
  • Read architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge of systems furniture.
  • Work with County’s surplus team to identify used furniture requested by customer.
  • Place furniture and miscellaneous items up for auction through Gov Deals.
Design / Selection
  • Oversee general furniture selection during the architectural design process, with the architect and customer (County agency).
  • Review architectural furniture drawings to ensure that all furniture needs have been captured on the drawing.
Purchase
  • Oversee furniture selection during purchasing process, with furniture vendors and customer.
  • Guide the customer in selecting County standard furniture where required.
  • Supervise color and fabric selection.
  • Ensure that the customer keeps the purchase within budget.
  • Review furniture vendors furniture drawings with customer.
  • Review proposal in detail; make corrections if necessary.
Delivery / Installation
  • Coordinate and manage furniture delivery schedule.
  • Manage day of delivery and installation.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  • Work with customer and furniture vendors to resolve the issues.
Invoicing
  • Review all items on the invoice for accuracy.
  • Schedule preproposal site visits with moving vendors.
  • Request proposals from each vendor, to include cost of move and any moving materials needed (boxes and labels).
  • Provide customer with moving procedures and coordinate relocation date.
  • Supervise day of relocation.
  • Review and pay invoice.
Additional duties as required
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages capital projects.
  • Manages the work of consultants, contractors, and others.
  • Coordinates project tasks with the work of other departments.
  • Administers capital improvement construction contracts.
  • Using MSProject, coordinates work between contractors, consultants, County agencies, and other components of local government.
  • Arranges and conducts meetings with consultants, contracts, and the public.
  • Performs field inspections of sites.
  • Establishes and manages capital budgets and schedules along with determining the method of contract delivery on construction projects.
  • Reviews, approves, and comments on consultant proposals, plans, designs, and specifications to ensure compliance with County standards and objectives.
  • Utilizes GIS and computer aided drafting and design to make recommendations for solving technical design problems.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports of program activities.
  • Administers County “on-call” construction contracts.
