Job Description

Provide leadership and daily support in implementing the Blueprint individualized career counseling initiative and connection to college and career readiness. Provide leadership to school-based staff and community stakeholders while working closely in the planning, monitoring, and developing of career counseling plans. Lead the Blueprint for Maryland career counseling initiative to ensure students are counseled into viable career pathways and build a foundation for post‑secondary success through effective career goal setting.

Provide daily support to teachers and staff in career‑connected learning, assists with professional development activities in coordination with individualized and group career coaching experiences. Monitor data, student engagement, equity, and access. Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Attends monthly Career Navigator (Wayfinder) professional development meetings.
  • Develops and facilitates program advisory/planning committees of key stakeholders, including parents, students, faculty, school administration, and community and partnership representatives.
  • Plans and implements individual and group instruction in career pathway planning.
  • Works with students to identify potential career exploration work‑based learning options.
  • Supports the recruitment of area business partners to assist with career development activities, work‑based learning opportunities including job shadows, worksite tours, mock interviews, and mentoring.
  • Prepares strategic plan for Blueprint for Maryland Pillar 3 progress in collaboration with building administration to ensure alignment to the School Improvement Plan and county‑wide initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Stakeholder Committee and the Blueprint partners and staff to develop promotional materials, plan events, develop business/community partnerships, conduct outreach and recruitment, and monitor progress on required data points.
  • Collaborates with DEWD and Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) partners on areas related to the specific career pathways and program development that support middle school students in determining an appropriate academic and workforce pathway, such as CTE programs, value‑added certifications, college and career preparation options.
  • Supports content‑area teachers in implementing career‑connected learning.
  • Coordinates career development data collection by using the prescribed instructional materials and career development framework with scope and sequence.
  • Serves as a liaison to Baltimore County Workforce Development and CCBC resources and contacts.
  • Serves as liaison to counselors and staff in feeder middle and elementary schools to support career development activities spanning across grade levels leading to a strong high school planning process for all students.
  • Coordinates site‑related career development experiences for staff and students (e.g., student recruitment, summer programs, speaker series, job shadowing opportunities, field experiences, professional development, and advisory/planning meetings).
  • Leads implementation of school‑based summer camp for career development activities.
  • Completes and submits monthly and quarterly reports pertaining to career‑connected learning.
  • May support the school by instructing and supervising students in career‑connected learning activities in a variety of school‑related settings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education, Training and

    Experience:

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field. Master’s degree preferred. Three years of successful teaching experience in an area related to the position duties.
