We're hiring new Instructional Coaches for our ASPIRE PreK program
We’re looking for experienced coaches to partner with family child care educators across Maryland, helping them grow their practice through goal‑setting, observation, feedback, and collaborative reflection.
About the Alliance and the ASPIRE PreK ProgramThe Alliance is a nonprofit dedicated to enabling family child care providers to deliver high‑quality public PreK. Through the ASPIRE PreK program, we partner with families and educators to provide training, coaching, and resources that elevate early childhood care. Since 2019, we’ve supported educators in 17 counties and Baltimore City, and we’re expanding our reach further.
What You’ll Do (AKA Your Day‑to‑Day)You’ll serve as the primary partner to a cohort of 12–15 family child care educators, working with them through a continuous cycle of goal‑setting, coaching, and data‑driven reflection. Your responsibilities include:
Relationship Building and
Coaching:
Build trust‑based partnerships, maintain reliable communication, and celebrate educators’ progress. You’ll co‑design coaching goals, provide structured reflection, and offer ongoing support.
Instructional Support: Model and co‑plan lessons, guide educators through approved PreK curricula and assessments (Creative Curriculum®, Teaching Strategies GOLD®, CLASS®), and facilitate professional learning communities.
Visits and Reflection: Conduct 60–90‑minute on‑site or virtual visits, complete observations and assessments, capture teaching exemplars, and guide educators through reflective debriefs using the Growth Rubric and state protocols.
Curriculum & Assessment Expertise: Use data to inform coaching conversations and support educators in translating research into practice.
Project‑Based
Collaboration:
Contribute to program assessments, coaching protocol design, and other organizational initiatives, while balancing autonomy and teamwork.
Caseload & Travel Logistics: Manage travel to educator sites, typically daily within Maryland, and coordinate schedule flexibility for unexpected changes.
Who You Are (Must‑Haves)A master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
At least five years of experience in early childhood education, with two years of coaching, mentoring, or supervision of adult educators.
Fluency in CLASS, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Creative Curriculum. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate PreK practices and ability to translate research into coaching moves.
Strong commitment to data‑guided practice, reflective coaching, and teamwork. Ability to manage a full caseload, travel daily within Maryland, and maintain reliable internet service for virtual collaboration.
At least two professional references from education supervisors or colleagues.
Bonus Points If You Have- Background in family child care or small‑group preschool settings.
- Maryland P‑3 Teaching Certification (or reciprocal).
- Familiarity with Maryland’s QRIS/EXCELS quality standards.
- Fluency in Spanish or another language.
- Experience in mental health, special education, trauma‑informed practice, or multilingual learner support.
- Affinity for technology, especially AI or web tools.
Full‑time position, Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend meetings.
Competitive salary: $75,000 with planned increase to $80,000 after the first year. We cover gas and tolls.
