About the Role
The Elementary Math and Literacy Tutor will work with students in Baltimore, MD. The position is part‑time, with approximately 20‑25 hours per week, involving small group sessions and push‑in/out support. The tutor assists students with work completion and content mastery using a designed curriculum, but does not create lesson plans.
Responsibilities- Provide one‑to‑one or group support to students in their math and literature courses.
- Support students in elementary grades.
- Assist the teacher with oversight of day‑to‑day classroom activities.
- Communicate with the teacher about student progress, helping students stay current on coursework and relaying any concerns.
- Give instruction on new materials.
- Support students with state exam preparation.
- Help the classroom teacher maintain a safe, supportive environment.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience teaching or tutoring students in a K‑12 environment.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Must pass a background screen and/or fingerprinting.
