Virtual Middle School Teacher - Mathematics

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students in a virtual classroom.
• Work with multiple virtual platforms, including Canvas and Edmentum.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress and outcomes through virtual learning platforms.
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students in a virtual setting.
• Provide a structured atmosphere designed to promote learning in a virtual setting.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain regular, on-time attendance.
• Serve on special committees.
• Assist students in developing critical-thinking abilities by helping them understand content concepts.
• Perform other duties as prescribed by Maryland State Law, Board of Education policy, Negotiated Agreement, and Building Principal.
• Willingness to teach classes in other content areas.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

The company is looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and licensure as established by the Maryland State Department of Education.
• Other experience as established by Maryland Law and Board of Education policy.
• Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
• Evidence of exemplary human relation skills.
• Evidence of exemplary organizational and planning skills.
• Evidence of ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.

• 10-month term of employment.
• Exempt status.
• Salary Scale: EACC, U1 (details available on the Charles County Public Schools salary scales website).

The role requires ordinary ambulatory skills to visit other locations and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard, are necessary. The employee frequently sits, reaches with hands and arms, talks, and hears.
