Science Teacher - Chemistry

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Develop a science program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments.
• Demonstrate scientific concepts using apparatus, experiments, and instructional aids.
• Instruct students in proper use, care, and safe handling of chemicals, science equipment, and plant and animal life.
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Plan and implement lab-based science lessons based on school standards.
• Organize laboratory activities for optimum learning.
• Provide individual or small group instruction to adapt curriculum to student needs and accommodate multiple projects and experiments.
• Encourage students to grow, learn, and improve.
• Teach science at a level appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
• Use the latest technology in classes.
• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet all students' needs.
• Provide an environment conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Maintain regular, on-time attendance.
• Serve on special committees.

The company is looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and licensure as established by the Maryland State Department of Education.
• Other experience as established by Maryland Law and Board of Education policy.
• Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.

• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.

• 10-month term of employment.
• Exempt status.
• Salary scale: EACC, U1 (details available on the Charles County Public Schools salary scales website).

The role requires ordinary ambulatory skills to visit other locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate light to medium weights (10-50 pounds). Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard are necessary. Frequent sitting, reaching, talking, and hearing are required.
