Under the direction of the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for the overall development and maintenance of documentation that captures best operating practices for the Maryland Logistics Center (MLC). The key objective of this role is to reduce variation in operating methods thereby improving the reliability and repeatability of processes while leading comprehensive continuous improvement initiatives.
The Process Engineer will work to lead technician teams to standardize processes and procedures including, but not limited to, picking, loading, and maintenance of warehouse equipment. This role will work with MLC Leaders to ensure that the formal change process is used thereby ensuring that change proposals are appropriately evaluated prior to change.
Responsibilities- Provide process engineering support to MLC Departments under the direction of the CI Manager.
- Lead teams of Technicians to create and maintain standard documentation for the various operations in the MLC, ensuring uniformity across the network; stay current on industry standards and latest developments; apply best practices and ensure they are approved and documented; critically analyze processes/systems/practices to identify gaps/opportunities for improvement.
- Focus on cost reduction programs, process improvements, and engineering service requests as well as evaluation and recommendation of process capital improvements and automation in coordination with Project Engineers.
- Develop the following documents:
Department Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures; maintain Process Audit Sheets, Startup & Shutdown procedures, and Operational Cleaning procedures; develop documentation for new projects and maintain annually (or as required) for ongoing systems. - Work with Project Engineering to set appropriate documentation standards for vendors and contractors that will facilitate ease of use in developing training documentation for warehouse staff.
- Participate in documentation to support Journey to Excellence activities and projects.
- Assist with coaching and developing Technicians to improve their problem‑solving skills, allowing them to be more effective team members; teams may be formed to attack a specific defect/loss or to support a specific project/initiative.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) preferred;
Food Science or relevant industry experience also acceptable. - Experience:
One year of relevant production/engineering experience; recent graduate with relevant co‑op/internship experience acceptable. - Knowledge of warehouse operations and equipment preferred.
- Experience developing and writing procedures with cross‑functional teams.
Strong interpersonal skills, communication, influence; facilitative coaching and mentoring skills; full involvement with MPWS system; mentoring, coaching and leading technical skills development.
Other Skills & CompetenciesProficiency in statistical methods; strong organizational and grammatical skills; self‑starter; adept at MS Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word); SAP, Adobe Acrobat Writer; PLC, CAD system and shop floor integration expertise a plus.

Base salary: $63,250 – $110,680, determined based on location, skills, education, experience and internal equity. Eligible for McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
