Geotechnical Design Engineer

A leading geotechnical and specialty foundations contractor is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to join its Maryland-based design team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex foundation, earth retention, and ground improvement projects across transportation, commercial, industrial, energy, and infrastructure markets.

The successful candidate will take ownership of designs from concept through construction, working closely with project teams to develop innovative, cost-effective, and buildable geotechnical solutions.

• Lead the design of deep foundation, earth retention, and ground improvement systems
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, reports, drawings, and technical specifications
• Develop solutions involving drilled shafts, micropiles, anchors, soil nails, shoring, and ground improvement techniques
• Review geotechnical data and evaluate subsurface conditions for design recommendations
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
• Collaborate with construction and project management teams to ensure practical, cost-effective designs
• Support client meetings, proposal development, and value engineering initiatives
• Provide engineering support during project execution and construction

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
• Active PE license required
• 5+ years of experience in geotechnical, foundation, structural, or construction engineering
• Experience designing deep foundations, retaining structures, shoring, or ground improvement systems
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and technical report writing skills
