Location: Baltimore, MD area (Hybrid — minimum 2 days/week in office)
About the CompanyOur client is a successful, established SaaS company (20+ years in business) operating in the financial technology space. They're a small, close-knit team where individual contributors have real impact, and they've built a reputation for adapting quickly through constant industry and regulatory change. Millions of consumers have used their tools to improve their financial lives.
The OpportunityThis is a mid-level type role, infrastructure-focused Dev Ops role supporting a SaaS platform. You'll partner closely with software development and data engineering to build, maintain, and operate infrastructure — with an emphasis on keeping the day-to-day operational picture clear:
Are systems healthy? Can we deploy safely? If something breaks, can we roll back fast?
- Own CI/CD pipelines — build, maintain, and expand pipelines to speed up testing and deployment; strong preference for candidates comfortable with blue/green deployment strategies and clean rollback capabilities when something goes wrong.
- Monitoring & alerting — proactively build out monitoring, and importantly, tune alarm states so alerts are meaningful rather than noisy. Support engineering teams in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- AWS infrastructure — administer and scale a multi-environment AWS environment (AWS Organization structure); evaluate new AWS/cloud services for cost, scalability, and performance improvements.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) — implement and maintain infrastructure using CDK, Terraform, or equivalent tooling.
- Container orchestration — hands-on knowledge of ECS and Fargate, and judgment on when to use which.
- Automation — design automated processes and testing workflows to reduce manual intervention across dev/test/release cycles.
- Third-party Dev Ops tooling — manage integrations for performance reporting, vulnerability scanning, and SIEM systems.
- Security & compliance — support alignment with SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001:2022 requirements (audit logging, access controls, encryption standards).
- Cross-functional collaboration — work with developers, architecture, QA, and project management to scope and execute releases smoothly.
- 4+ years of experience as a Dev Ops Engineer, specifically using AWS
- Strong, hands-on experience with Cloud Watch alarms or equivalent — setting up and tuning alarm states, not just standing up dashboards
- Solid Infrastructure as Code experience (AWS CDK or Terraform)
- Working knowledge of ECS vs. Fargate trade-offs
- Experience with blue/green deployments and rollback strategy
- Experience deploying developer code to AWS in a secure environment
- Familiarity with source control (Bitbucket, Git Lab, etc.) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL Aurora RDS preferred)
- In-depth networking experience with a security focus
- Comfort troubleshooting distributed systems to root cause
- Genuine interest in — or active use of — AI tools to improve Dev Ops workflows (this team wants people who lean into AI, not just tolerate it)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
- Meaningful mission — direct impact on how people access credit and lending
- Outstanding individual and family healthcare plans
- Flexible/open PTO
- Company 401(k) contribution
- HSA/FSA options
- Professional development and tuition assistance
- Hybrid schedule, easy office access with hassle-free parking and catered lunches (M–Th)
- Salary commensurate with experience, plus performance-based annual bonus and incentives
