The Equipment Controller - BAL is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and oversight of chassis, containers, and other equipment at assigned terminal locations. This role ensures equipment is properly tracked, accounted for, and available for operational use or timely return to asset owners. The Equipment Controller works closely with dispatch and operations teams to coordinate equipment utilization, investigate discrepancies, and resolve inventory issues.

Success in this position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively track and locate equipment within a fast-paced transportation environment.

• Schedule:
  Monday - Friday; 6:30am - 3pm
• Conduct daily on-site inspections of assigned terminal locations.
• Monitor and track container in-gate and out-gate activity to provide accurate status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain current knowledge of empty container return locations, terminal requirements, and applicable accessorial charges.
• Reconcile and maintain an accurate daily inventory of empty containers within the terminal.
• Manage and organize container movement records, emails, and supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve container inventory discrepancies, including misplaced or missing equipment.
• Research and verify container gate transactions, locations, and movement history when information is incomplete or unavailable.
• Utilize Street Turn and other company systems to validate container status, gate activity, and location data.
• Retrieve and maintain gate receipts and supporting documentation through terminal and carrier portals.
• Coordinate with dispatch and operations teams to locate, reposition, and recover equipment as needed.
• Identify and correct data entry and processing errors related to gate activity and container tracking.
• Communicate container-related charges and movement details to customers to ensure accurate billing and account management.
• Support managers and cross-functional departments with operational projects and administrative tasks as assigned.
• Ensure terminal inventory records accurately reflect equipment on site and facilitate the prompt removal of unauthorized or misplaced equipment.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years’ experience in intermodal transportation
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and customer orientation
• Problem solving and proactivity mindset
