Nurse Residency Program - Shady Grove Medical Center; Winter

Overview

Shady Grove Medical Center, part of Adventist Health Care, is a faith‑based, not‑for‑profit organization serving the Maryland community. We offer a year‑long Nurse Residency Program designed to support new RN graduates in transition from college to professional practice. Participants work under a preceptor and receive ongoing mentorship and 4‑hour monthly seminars. After completion, residents commit to a minimum of one year at their unit and can transfer within the system.

• Attend all assigned learning activities and clinical experiences.
• Arrive on time and prepared for all shifts.
• Complete clinical, classroom assignments and maintain an 80% minimum passing grade.
• Rotate shifts per program or preceptor schedule.
• Pay for required books, materials, equipment, and transportation.
• Work closely with preceptor, CNS, educators, and program coordinator to maximize learning.
• Participate in regular evaluation sessions and provide/receive feedback.
• Complete competency documentation.
• Complete an Evidence‑Based Practice Project before program completion.

• Graduate from an accredited ASN, BSN, or MSN program within 12 months prior to cohort start.
• Minimum 2.75 GPA preferred.
• No prior RN or LPN experience.
• RN license in MD or a compact state (required before start date).
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Specialty specific: ACLS for ICU, PACU, etc., obtainable after employment.
• Solid analytical, critical thinking and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle a multitask environment.
• Computer proficiency.

Full time with occasional weekends and holidays. Shift schedule determined after orientation.

$37.00 – $55.00 per hour.
