Aircraft Mechanic II (Fuel Cell)

Responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and modify fuel systems.
• Drain fuel from tanks and cells.
• Perform purge operations on cells and tanks.
• Remove, reassemble, and install components.
• Clean and inspect fuel cells.
• Monitor the need for sealants and necessary seals for mission support.
• Inspect and repair aircraft fuel systems.
• Monitor bench stock, shop stock, and Composite Tool Kits (CTKs).
• Perform onsite and off‑site equipment maintenance, as required.
• Use maintenance instructions and technical data for inspections and maintenance during aircraft repair.
• Provide specialized knowledge to accomplish difficult repairs and perform major repairs, as needed.
• Document discrepancies in the applicable forms and input data in Maintenance Information Systems.
• Order materials and supplies, as required.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs.
• Work day, second, third, or weekend shifts as required.
• Perform additional duties within the work center with provided training.
• Perform other duties within the classification.
• Travel as required, including TDY.
• Maintain required training and certifications.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong working knowledge of fuel systems maintenance procedures; completion of fuel systems specialized courses required.
• Working knowledge of procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
• Occupational Physical.
• Respirator Training, Fuel Systems Confined Space Entry Training, and CPR training.
• Ability to read and interpret data.
• Work performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• FAA Airframe Certificate or License.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US citizenship required).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license.

• Experience working with fuels, oils, lubricants, chemical cleaners, and solutions.

Hourly rate: $51.37. Includes a competitive benefits package.
