Facility Maintenance Supervisor I
BWI Marshall Airport, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Anne Arundel County, MD.
Position:
Facilities Maintenance Supervisor I, Office of Facilities Maintenance.
- Supervise building maintenance technicians and skilled trades such as plumbers, carpenters, painters, welders, locksmiths, masons, sign fabricators, and electricians.
- Perform administrative duties: review and approve leave requests; counsel employees; write interdepartmental reports; attend meetings; correspond with upper level supervisors and other departments regarding daily activities.
- Maintain safe operating practices and enforce them through inspections, writing, and following up on work orders via an automated system.
- Emergency essential position; required to work during weather, operational, or disaster emergencies.
- 24‑hour facility; must be available for any shift as required.
- Education:
high school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Five years in construction, facilities maintenance, grounds, or skilled trades; at least one year in a lead worker or crew leader capacity; at least two years of maintenance involving public interaction in large facilities or outdoor grounds.
- May need a valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license and an US DOT medical card.
- May need to complete training and certification during probation and for permanent status.
- Must obtain an MAA Airfield Operators Permit.
- Ability to work on high structures, in cramped quarters, tunnels, and underground areas is required.
- Must be willing and available for duty at such hours, day or night, including call‑in; must maintain a reliable communication link.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials; required to undergo periodic medical testing and hazardous materials training, and to wear a respirator.
