Position SummaryPart‑time faculty position located in the Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades on the Arnold campus. The instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction in HVAC and plumbing trades, following the provided curriculum outline and learning expectations in regular increments and timelines. Course content is both lab‑based and theoretical, with instructional guidelines, learning materials, and content hosted on online learning platforms.
Training and support for new instructors are provided before and during instructional terms. Instructors must have expertise in the trade and the ability to effectively manage a group training/learning environment. Basic computer experience (email, web browsing, basic communication and organization) is required. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. A desire to share knowledge of the industry with future skilled trades workers is essential.
Instructors will be required to adhere to Anne Arundel Community College’s Part Time Faculty Instructional policies and procedures.
- Prepare materials needed for course instruction, labs, testing, supplies.
- Provide basic lab maintenance and track inventory of equipment and tools utilized.
- Relate instruction and material to course objectives.
- Familiar with NEC code book as appropriate.
- Discuss and demonstrate workplace safety, personal safety and power/hand tool safety.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, other faculty and staff.
- Submit grades, attendance, reports and records in a timely manner.
- Journeyman/Master license or Journeyman level of knowledge in HVAC and plumbing trade.
- Safety awareness and knowledge of NEC Code book as appropriate.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools and equipment used in the trade.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Five years of related experience.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30 preferred.
- Forklift experience/certification preferred.
