Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician II (Grade 12, 7125) – Job Post #26-83-12

Nature of WorkThe technician performs routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment, including diesel-powered, electronic computerized, and fuel‑injected systems. The role also supports major repairs and overhauls of vehicles and heavy equipment.

Minimum Qualifications- Education:
High‑school graduation or equivalent certificate. - Experience:
Three years servicing, maintaining, and repairing motor vehicles, gasoline and/or diesel engines, or heavy-duty construction equipment. At least one year of that experience must involve heavy‑duty construction equipment and diesel engines. - Experience and education substitutions:
- Additional documented relevant experience may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Accredited heavy‑equipment or diesel repair training may substitute for one and a half years of general experience.
- Military service experience may substitute for education and experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- ASE Technician certification may substitute for two years of education (with required test experience counted as part of that substitution). ASE Master Technician certification may substitute for the required education.
- Driver’s license:
Class C motor‑vehicle operator’s license. During probation, a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
Essential employee; must be available 24/7 for inclement weather or emergency events. Must respond after hours.
