Overview
Salesforce is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) in the Public Sector to bring cutting-edge AI and other transformative solutions to life for mission-critical work across the U.S. Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Aerospace & Allied Nations. This role blends technology with strategic partnership to deliver production-grade systems, analytics, and automation using the Salesforce platform and related technologies.
Responsibilities- Deploy innovative AI and automation solutions into defense, intelligence, and aerospace environments to accelerate transformation and outcomes.
- Collaborate directly with end users in classified and unclassified environments to understand mission needs and translate them into technical implementations using Salesforce's multi-cloud portfolio.
- Bridge customer missions and Salesforce engineering by gathering feedback and co-designing features that strengthen national security outcomes.
- Improve efficiency, mission readiness, and trust by deploying technology that enhances response times, personnel utilization, and logistics management.
- Deliver end-to-end technical solutions, including coding, configuring systems, and troubleshooting to ensure successful deployment and measurable impact.
- Design and implement scalable production systems leveraging AI and large language models to automate workflows on the Salesforce platform.
- Own data configuration and integration end-to-end, including data models, processing pipelines, and integration strategies while ensuring data security and readiness for AI applications.
- Develop bespoke intelligent agents and automations on the Agentforce platform, delivering tangible value through intuitive user experiences.
- Conduct deep-dive debugging and analysis of complex system interactions and AI model behaviors to optimize performance and reliability.
- Prototype and iterate rapidly through proofs-of-concept and minimum viable products in collaboration with client teams.
- Apply best practices for code quality, security, scalability, and maintainability across deployed solutions.
- Serve as the technical advisor on high-profile engagements, designing, building, and deploying tailored Salesforce solutions for defense, intelligence, and aerospace missions.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to co-develop platform features that address public sector needs and IL5/IL6 operational requirements.
- Facilitate integration of AI/ML models, data pipelines, and automation to support predictive maintenance, personnel planning, and mission-critical logistics decisions.
- Enable customers to adopt Salesforce for field operations, asset visibility, command center operations, and secure collaboration through Slack and Government Cloud Plus.
- Work with customer IT and security teams to accelerate Authority to Operate (ATO) and production go-lives per DoD IL5/IL6 and regulatory frameworks.
- Share lessons learned to shape playbooks, prototypes, and reusable assets for government innovation.
- Partner with mission stakeholders to translate priorities into actionable roadmaps and Salesforce solutions aligned with agency strategy.
- 3-7 years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or systems integration.
- Strong background in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Python, Apex).
- Hands-on, end-to-end delivery of high-quality, scalable production solutions in a professional environment.
- Experience with AI/LLM technologies, including integrating LLMs, AI orchestration frameworks, and prompt engineering.
- Experience with data integration, API design, ETL, and AI/ML model deployment.
- Familiarity with analytics, data warehouses, and operational dashboards (e.g., Tableau, CRM Analytics, Snowflake).
- Experience in or adjacent to secure environments.
- Ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with independence.
- Strong communication and collaboration with users, executives, and engineers; customer-focused with bias for action.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites.
- Must be a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil without dual citizenship and able to meet customer and government screening standards.
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
- Experience supporting DoD, IC, or Federal civilian agencies.
- Background in defense/aerospace or military/logistics operations.
- Familiarity with IL5/IL6 and CNSS #1253 or deployment to classified environments.
- Direct experience with Salesforce platform configuration, customization, and development.
- Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud and/or Agentforce platform.
- Experience developing conversational AI solutions within regulated industries.
- Salesforce certifications (e.g., Administrator, Platform Developer I, Architect, Agentforce Specialist).
